Jamie & I were chatting about mac & cheese today. We always talk about food for some reason! But I was sharing with her that I grew up eating mac & cheese a certain way. With crushed tomatoes mixed in. It's a cheap & easy was to spruce up your plain mac & cheese. I normally add garlic salt as well. I think several people in my family still make their mac & cheese this way. It's like an old family recipe...Hahahaha! But it's a great fix any time. It's kinda comfort food in a way.
Jamie, said that her Mom, will add a can of chili, to her mac & cheese.
So, here's my question for you.....
What do you do to spruce up your plain old mac & cheese?
My Maw Maw taught me how to make this Mac & Cheese taste the best. WIthout adding anything! ITs all about the WAY you cook and the amount of water you use, as well as the fact that you have to devote 7 minutes to JUST the mac & cheese- nothing else. It comes out so perfect. My sister ask for it all the time! I think I will try the tomatoes though- maybe even right now! I'm hungry!

I will pan fry a hot dog and cut it up, then mix it in for my boys. It's a good warm, filling dish when you don't have a ton of time. And Crystal's right, it's just plain comfort food!

I add parmesan cheese and mexican blend cheese....and lots of butter....and whatever herbs I have at the time :)
